Triple Choice Tuesday

Triple Choice Tuesday is returning in 2024. Would you like to take part?

In 2010, I kicked off a weekly series called Triple Choice Tuesday in which participants named three books that meant a lot to them and told us a little about their chosen titles.

The categories were:

  • A favourite book
  • A book that changed my world
  • A book that deserves a wider audience

The aim was to raise the profile of certain books and introduce everyone to new titles, new authors and new bloggers.

More than 100 people took part, including bloggers, readers and authors (including Joseph O’Connor, Alex Miller and Peggy Frew), and the series ran on an ad-hoc basis up until mid-2017. (You can see the full list here.)

Why am I talking about this now? Because I’d like to reintroduce it in 2024 to mark the 20th anniversary of Reading Matters.

I live in a different part of the world now, where new writers are doing great things, so I’d love to be able to showcase them here. New bloggers (and bookstagrammers and podcasters) have also come to my attention in recent years and I’d love to find out what three books they would name.

An invitation to contribute

if you haven’t taken part before and would love to do so, please either email me or fill in the form below.

And even if you have taken part before and would like to choose a different selection (after all, our tastes and favourite books can change over time), then feel free to do a reprise edition! Please don’t be shy; the more people who take part, the merrier! I love hearing about people’s favourite books and I am sure you do too.

I will also send out invites to authors and other people I think would be great to hear from.

I’m excited about the return of this series — and can’t wait to see what books are chosen!

If you would like to take part in Triple Choice Tuesday, please fill out the form below

Triple Choice Tuesday form

For each book you choose, please explain the reasons for your choice and a little bit about the book — but keep each response to no more than 200 words.

If you would prefer to email your contribution, please send it to readingmatters@gmail.com with “TRIPLE CHOICE TUESDAY” in the subject line.

Thank you for taking the time to fill out this form. Please note, your answers may be edited for clarity and length. I will email you if I need to check anything and will let you know in advance when your piece will be published.

    1. Thanks, Susan. Am beginning to plan/think about other things I can do to celebrate. I hope you take part again. You’ve got a bit of time to think about your contribution so feel free to submit the form or simply email me your answers when you are ready.

  1. Yay, I love reading people’s choices, and thoroughly enjoyed taking part – TEN years ago! Where does the time go? Still think I’m the only person who has selected Star Trek novels as one of their picks – for some reason I only talked about them as something that got me through the hellishness of schooldays, but neglected to mention that in a roundabout way they were responsible for my choice of career. Books (ANY books) can have a profound effect on the reader and it’s great to see how other people have been affected by particular ones.

    1. I know. I don’t know where the past TWENTY years has gone. In fact, it still shocks me that I repatriated 4-and-a-half years ago because I don’t know where that time went either 🤷🏻‍♀️

  2. What a great idea. I really enjoyed this kimbofo – doing mine and reading others. I’d probably be happy to give it a go again, if you’d have me, but put me down the list after people who haven’t done it before.

  3. I’ll think about participating, but do you want to check your email address on this post in case people try to email? Is it really “maters” with only one t (in bold just before the form)?

  4. Great idea! I’ll probably join in but I’ll have to give my answers some thought first. I’m so impressed that you’ve been blogging for twenty years. I thought I was an old-timer at ten years, but you’ve made me feel like a relative newbie again!
